LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. – Six former Blowfish players have been selected to participate in Major League Baseball’s Spring Breakout this month.

The second annual edition of Spring Breakout features hundreds of the top prospects from around the league. All 16 games will take place in the Grapefruit and Cactus Leagues and will be broadcast through MLB.com, MLB Network or regional sports networks.

Leading the way for former Blowfish players is Lexington County native Billy Amick, who is the No. 14 prospect for the Minnesota Twins. Amick played for the Blowfish in 2022. He was drafted in the second round of the 2024 MLB Draft out of Tennessee.

Two former Blowfish will represent the Chicago Cubs this month – Cole Mathis and Will Sanders.

Mathis is the No. 15 prospect in the Cubs organization. He was also a second-round selection in last summer’s draft, picked at No. 54, just six spots ahead of Amick. Mathis was also a member of the 2022 Blowfish team out of the College of Charleston.

Sanders was on the 2021 Blowfish roster from South Carolina. He was picked in the 4th round by the Cubs in 2023.

Brennan Milone is the No. 26 prospect for the Athletics. He was selected to participate in the prospect games this month as well. Milone was a sixth-round pick by the Athletics in the 2022 draft out of Oregon.

Tyler Bradt (2021 Blowfish) was picked to represent the St. Louis Cardinals, while RJ Petit (2020 Blowfish) earned the nod for the Detroit Tigers.

Bradt, who played collegiately at East Carolina, was a 16th-round selection by the Cardinals in the 2023 Draft. Petit was tabbed in the 14th round of the 2021 draft by the Tigers.
