BLOWFISH-LCRAC ANNOUNCE INAUGURAL 2027 SPRING BREAK HIGH SCHOOL INVITATIONAL

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — The Lexington County Blowfish and the Lexington County Recreation & Aging Commission are proud to announce the inaugural 2027 Spring Break High School Invitational.

The tournament will run from March 28th through April 1st, 2027. Lexington County Baseball Stadium will host an elite eight-team field. The tournament features premier local high school teams projected to play in the tourney: Lexington, River Bluff, Airport, Chapin, and Brookland Cayce High. They will compete against three visiting teams to be announced in the near future.

“The Lex” is a 2,000-seat stadium which recently underwent a $1.5 million renovation, which included the installation of a state-of-the-art AstroTurf surface to help secure events just like this.” said LCRAC Executive Director Randy Gibson. The stadium serves as the home of the Coastal Plain League summer collegiate Blowfish Baseball Club, which is celebrating its 21st season overall—including 12 years in Lexington County and 9 years in Columbia, South Carolina.

“On behalf of the Blowfish and LCRAC, we are excited to host this brand-new showcase for our local Lexington County players,” said Blowfish Co-Owner Bill Shanahan, “And hosting high school teams from across the state and the region is perfect to travel and visit Lexington County and play ball on what Lexington County calls our ‘Green Diamond Jewel’ Lexington County Baseball Stadium.”

River Bluff Head Baseball Coach Mark Bonnette shared, “This spring break tournament provides an awesome opportunity for our players and program to not only get to play at a great facility, but to showcase the great baseball community we have in Lexington County.

This tournament directly aligns with the mission of the Lexington County Recreation & Aging Commission to improve the quality of life for all citizens through creative, meaningful, and life-enriching experiences provided by top-tier program services, facilities, and education.
