LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — The Lexington County Blowfish are thrilled to announce a spectacular Independence Day celebration on Saturday, July 4, 2026, combining championship local sports with premier family entertainment. Prior to the highly anticipated intra-squad matchup between the Glowfish and the Blowfish, the team will host a special pre-game ceremony to honor the Gray Collegiate Academy Softball Team for capturing the SCHSL Class 4A State Championship. Following the final out, the night sky will light up with the area’s favorite holiday tradition: the “Patriotic Concert in the Sky” Fireworks Show.
Honoring a Historic, Undefeated Season
The pre-game ceremony will celebrate the incredible achievements of West Columbia’s Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles, who completed a perfect, unblemished 34-0 season. Under the leadership of Head Coach Doug Frye, the War Eagles captured their third consecutive state title and fourth overall in program history. Coach Frye will be throwing out the ceremonial 1st pitch with the team surrounding him around the mound.
Ranked No. 5 nationally in the MaxPreps top 25, the roster featured stellar performances, including junior pitcher Peyton Hendrix—who tossed a complete-game gem in the final series—and standout hitters Mackenzie Sease and University of South Carolina signee Aspen Boulware (who the Glowfish are very interested in signing to play in for the 4th of July exhibition game).
Fans are encouraged to arrive early to help the Blowfish give these remarkable student-athletes the hometown ovation they deserve.
