With Wednesday night’s victory, the Blowfish extended their win streak to seven games, the best overall win percentage in the Coastal Plain League. In a fast paced game of inches, the Blowfish sealed the deal with an 8th inning rally to beat the Macon Bacon 8-3.

Andrew Duval got it started on the mound for the Blowfish. In his first start this season, Duval allowed only three runs in five innings pitched. The Blowfish also saw two new players hit the mound. Will Smith and Bennett Sloper both made their Blowfish debut on the mound tonight, Smith pitching two innings and Sloper pitching one.

In his one inning pitched, Sloper went three-for-three with three strikeouts to end his first game as a Blowfish on a high note.

The Blowfish were able to score runs off the first two batters, Blake Martin and Ty Dooly. Martin, who was returning from injury, had a huge game for the Blowfish. Macon responded with two runs of their own in the second inning. The game slowed down in the middle innings with both teams struggling to get hot at the plate and produce any runs.

Pitcher Beau Ross also had his first game back from injury. The Blowfish players welcomed him with open arms after battling injury and having to take time away from the mound.

“It feels good to be back out there with the boys and to play a small part in a good game. It’s been tough being sidelined but we’ve been winning and that’s all that matters. It felt good to get out there and contribute to the streak,” Ross said.

In the eighth inning the Blowfish found a match to light their fire with 6 runs being scored to secure the victory. Martin and Ty Jackson were able to rally the Blowfish and start the bats off strong in the eighth to generate three hits that inning.

“It feels great to be able to come up big for the team. I couldn’t have asked for a better first game back after two weeks of injury with a warm welcome from my teammates and fans at the field. The Blowies are hot!” Martin said.

The Blowfish look to stay hot and continue their win streak Friday in a double header against Forest City. First game is at 5:05PM and tickets are available at GoBlowfish.com
