After an even matched game, the Blowfish fell 7-5 against the Macon Bacon at home. Through the tough loss, players stayed positive and look forward to starting fresh next week at home.

The Blowfish struggled early on the mound, allowing runs in the first two innings and forcing the offense to play catch up throughout the game. Bennett Sloper struggled to find the strike zone and battled with umpires allowing three runs in his two innings pitched.

CJ Czerwinski replaced Sloper on the mound and started to gain back Lexington’s momentum. Czerwinski was surrounded by a strong defensive field and only allowed two runs in five innings pitched despite allowing seven hits.

“It was amazing to have my defense behind me, they made some great plays. Xavier made an amazing play at the right field wall in the second inning I think it was,” Czerwinski said. “I’m happy that I’m ending the season on a good note as we head towards the playoffs and the end of the season. I’m happy I could help my team at least have a chance to win.”

Ty Jackson has been a source of energy for the Blowfish from day one and continues to support and fuel his team as they head towards the end of the season. Jackson helped the Blowfish come back in the game in the third, hitting a two run home run, part of four runs the Blowfish scored that inning.

“It’s coming down to the wire, us and Macon are battling in the division and we are even right now,” Jackson said. “The energy might have to be brought up a little, we started off hot and then we slowed down towards the end of the game but we need to keep our foot on the pedal and just keep going and keep grinding. It’s a long road ahead but two more weeks and we got this. I love the Blowfish and I love the atmosphere, and we are going to finish strong on top trust me.”

Xavier Cumbee thrived on defense in tonight’s matchup. Cumbee had two jumping catches against the right field wall, including robbing a home run at the wall in right center field.

“You have to put your body on the line, the Blowies are still hot and we are going to come back from the tough streak. We start Monday and we are going to get the win against Forest City on Monday.”
