LEXINGTON, S.C.- The Blowfish defeated the Macon Bacon on Friday night, 5-4, on opening night at the Lex.
The Blowfish got things going in the bottom of the first, scoring two runs to take a 2-0 lead on the Bacon. The Bacon quickly stormed back to take a 3-2 lead in the top of the second and increased the lead to 4-2 in the top of the fourth.
However, Lexington County refused to quit. The Blowfish bullpen gathered to pitch five shutout innings and allowed zero hits. On the offensive side, the Blowfish managed to score a run in the fifth before scoring two runs in the bottom of the eighth to take the lead and seal the game as a victory for the home crowd.
Larson Schlotz picked up the win for the Blowfish, his first of the year. The senior from Lenoir-Rhyne pitched one inning, allowing no hits, one walk, and one strikeout.
Jake Pereira won the Elite Lawn & Landscape Player of the Game, going 3-4 at the plate with two runs and two stolen bases.
The Glowfish will take the field for the first time at The Lex on May 30th against Kingsmen Academy at 7:05 pm. Gates will open at 5 pm for a softball game between the Lexington County Sheriff’s Office and the Richland County Sheriff’s Office. The game begins at 5:30.
