LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC – The Lexington County Blowfish will honor three Lexington County state champions this week at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.
The Blowfish will host the Gray Collegiate Academy softball team at Thursday night’s game, Batesburg-Leesville baseball on Friday and Airport baseball on Saturday.
Gray Collegiate and head coach Doug Frye won the Class 4A championship last Saturday, as the War Eagles defeated York 5-2 in the deciding game of the best-of-three series. It marked the program’s third state title in four years, winning the 2022 and ’24 championships while at the Class 2A level.
Gray Collegiate posted a 32-2 overall record during its 2025 championship run. Shortstop Aspen Boulware was an all-state selection and set the team record with 22 home runs.
The Batesburg-Leesville baseball team and head coach Rob Bouknight won the Class 2A title last Saturday. It was the Panthers’ first championship since going back-to-back in Class A in 1948-49. They rebounded from a Game 1 loss to defeat Phillip Simmons by the scores of 3-2 in Game Two and 8-5 in the deciding game played at Founders Park on the campus of the University of South Carolina. Pitcher Tanner Watkins was an all-state selection, leading Batesburg-Leesville a 24-6-1 record in 2025.
The Airport baseball team and head coach Casey Bradwell won the Class 4A title last Saturday as well. The 10-0 win over Seneca completed an 8-0 run through the postseason for the Eagles. The pitching staff of Hunter Epps, Cash Epps and Brice Gillette combined to allow just eight earned runs in the playoffs. It was the first baseball title in the West Columbia school’s 67-year history. Pitcher Hunter Epps and infielder Brice Gillette were selected to the Class 4A All-State title. The team dedicated their playoff run to the late equipment manager Lawrence “LG” Gardner who passed away in April.
The championships by Airport and Batesburg-Leesville made it nine Lexington County schools that have won state baseball titles since 1995.
