Common Questions
Frequently Asked
Questions.
Questions.
Do I need to be currently enrolled in college?
All players who apply should either be on a current college roster ... or a senior in high school who is committed to play at the collegiate level next year.
What does a "conditional contract" mean?
It means you will be part of our extended roster and our local developmental pipeline. You will be signed to play in our Glowfish games and evaluated by our coaching staff ... and you will be under active consideration to move up to the Blowfish roster throughout the summer or in the future.
Do I need to provide my own equipment?
You will need to provide your own wooden bat, glove, batting gloves, batting helmet, catcher's equipment (if applicable), turf shoes (no metal spikes allowed) and socks. The organization will provide a Glowfish jersey and hat. The jersey will be returned at the end of each game to be cleaned by our clubhouse staff.
Is there a tryout or is selection based on the application?
We plan to select players in the offseason based on applications ... and we will also hold an open tryout before the season begins in May. Submitting an application puts you in consideration for both paths.
Are host families provided?
Host families are not provided for members of the Glowfish roster. We are looking for local prospects who live in the Midlands of South Carolina to participate in this program.
Is this a new team?
No. The Glowfish are an extension of the Blowfish roster, with many Blowfish players staying home to play in split-squad games. Members of the Glowfish roster will be added to the mix of players in these games. We are providing more opportunities for younger players in the Midlands to compete at the next level.
