HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. – Six Blowfish players earned All-Coastal Plain League honors for their performances in the 2023 season.
CJ Czerwinski, Ryan Ouzts and Dariyan Pendergrass were named to the first team, while Cooper Blauser, Ty Jackson and Michael Watson collected second team accolades.
All six were instrumental in Lexington County’s run to the 2023 CPL Petitt Cup championship.
Czerwinski, a relief pitcher, transferred to Gardner-0Webb during the summer to complete his final year of eligibility. The right-hander recently completed his second season with the Blowfish. He also logged a save in the game three of the Petitt Cup Championship Series, securing the final contest for Lexington County with a scoreless ninth inning.
Ouzts, a catcher from Presbyterian who was tabbed a 2023 CPL All-Star, set an organization record with 12 home runs during the 2023 campaign. He also completed his second season with the Blowfish.
Pendergrass wreaked havoc on the basepaths, stealing 35 bases, the second-highest total in club history. The outfielder from Hartsville, South Carolina, who was a 2023 CPL All-Star, transferred to the College of Charleston for the 2024 season.
Blauser was also named a 2023 CPL All-Star during a solid campaign in Lexington County. The infielder from Clemson, hit .350 with 3 doubles in the CPL Playoffs.
Jackson celebrated his third consecutive CPL Petitt Cup championship in 2023, after playing the previous two seasons with the Savannah Bananas. Jackson, an outfielder from Florida A&M, was a firestarter for the Blowfish offense, collecting seven hits, including a double, a homer and five RBIs in the CPL Playoffs.
In in second season with the Blowfish, Watson pitched in only four games before announcing a transfer to Sam Houston for the upcoming spring campaign. In limited time, Watson struck out 34 batters and logged a 2-0 record in just 20 innings of work.
