The Blowfish ended the season on a positive note with a win over the Macon Bacon and spectacular post game fireworks.

Starting on the mound for the Blowfish, Robbie Boykin was able to quiet Macon’s bats only allowing three runs in six innings pitched. The Blowfish has proved to be efficient on the mound throughout the summer. Boykin got the win in the game for his performance on the mound.

“I felt good from the get go with Ashby in the bullpen and I know I was throwing hard,” Boykin said. “I was sitting around 90s so my fastball was there and I was able to work off the slider. The defense played great tonight and I know I had my team behind me and I was able to just throw strikes.

The Blowfish scored the bulk of their runs early on in the second inning. Warren Holzemer created a change reaction of runs with his home run off of Macon’s Jagger Ionvinelli who took the loss in the game. Ashby Vining, Cade Bouknight, Josh Topper and Ryan Outzs all contributed to the Blowfish’s success in the inning.

Matt Dooley came in to pitch in the last inning and earned the save in the game, stopping the Bacon from coming back and beating the Blowfish.

After a hot summer, Blowfish players played with excitement in their last regular season game at the Lex. The team is gearing up for playoffs starting this Sunday in Forest City.

“I will go on record and officially say that this is my favorite team I have ever been the head coach of, as this is my only one. Genuinely this group of guys is really special,” Head Coach KC Brown said. “I would describe this summer as a rollercoaster, there have been a lot of wins, a lot of win streaks and a couple losses in between but really it’s just a great group of guys. They bounce back really well and I’m excited going into the playoffs, there is genuinely no group of guys that I would rather be going into the playoffs with.”
