Lexington County SC–The Glowfish walked it off in the ninth inning to get the victory over the Blowfish in the second annual “Blowfish Fourth of July Fish Fry.”

“We got the dub and I got my dippin dots and it’s America’s birthday, it doesn’t get much better than that,” Glowfish Head Coach Thomas Powell said.

In a pregame draft, Cade Bouknight and Powell were named head coaches of the two teams and energy was high in both dugouts. Powell set the bar high in the leadoff spot with a homerun in the bottom of the first inning to start the game off 1-0.

The Glowfish maintained their 1-0 lead until early in the fifth inning when the Blowfish gained momentum off of pitching errors and scored six runs. Wells Sykes, Ashby Vining and Bouknight all came up with big hits and runs.

In the bottom of the fifth, Powell yet again raised the bar by scoring his second home run of the game and added fuel to the fire of his team. Ty Dooley followed with a homerun of his own to help close the gap in the Blowfish’s 6-5 lead.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Glowfish down by one run, Dalton Reeves hit a huge three run walk off home run to secure the victory and the dippin’ dots for the Glowfish.

“I had an idea he (Zach Cowart) wasn’t gonna go back to the fastball. I saw a change-up out of his hand and it was over the middle so I had to do it for the Glowfish. Crazy timing and how it all played out but it was a lot of fun with the guys and I’m glad I was able to give something like that to them as well as the fans tonight. All glory to God. Couldn’t have drawn it up any better,” Reeves said.

The Blowfish will return to action at The Lex this Saturday as they host the Florence Flamingos at 7:05PM.
